SANDAKAN CITY TOUR

Pick up from your hotel in Sandakan or from Sandakan Airport, proceed to the Observation Pavilion for a bird eye view of Sandakan town. This bustling town was once the capital of British North Borneo from 1884-1946. It was a meeting point for traders from Europe, Africa, Arabia, China, the Indies, Java and Japan in the early years and also served as a major port for early settlers. Visit the lively central market where produces and fresh seafood are sold. Proceed to visit the magnificent Chinese temple built on a 100-meter high hilltop with commanding view over Sandakan Bay. The interior is an extravaganza in red and gold, with writing dragons and gilded Buddha's. Continue your tour to the beautiful St.Michael's and All Angels Church. One of the oldest building in Sandakan, the Church avoided major damage during World War II in the 1940s and remains one of the very few stone buildings in the whole of Sabah.
