SANDAKAN WAR MEMORIAL
Morning, pick up from Sandakan airport or from your hotel in Sandakan and proceed to visit the Australian Prisoner of War Memorial, where the infamous Sandakan – Ranau Death Marches commenced in 1945. A commemorative pavilion holds educational material and includes a scale model of the original POW camp. A path winds through the park past preserved wartime relics and towards the obelisk of black granite, erected to commemorate those who died. After tour, transfer to your hotel or to the airport.
** What to bring – Disposable raincoat, cap, sunblock lotion, insect repellent, drinking water. Use good pair of walking shoes/ flat sandal.
Comfortable cotton T-shirts with long or short pants recommended.
